Drifting into Autumn: Micro Poems by Neetu

September 26, 2023 by in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as , , , ,

Drifting into Autumn
(6 Micro Poems including Haiku)

a nip in the air
swirling to my feet
one blushing leaf

~

Autumn tiptoes
nudging Summer
out the door

~

flowers and dreams
the earth churns and mulches
I, a falling leaf

~

ablaze in autumn
the yellow leaves know
how to burn

~

blast of wind
the last leaves blow away
leave me barren

~

tell me when
leaves fall and
your heart grieves

I will crush them
under my feet and
turn them into mulch

Mother’s Mantle by Neetu

August 26, 2023 by in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as , , ,

Mother’s Mantle

She wraps her child
in the old, soft mantle

though the child is
grown into a woman
she has raised
with gentle hands
and tender affection

her daughter shivers
as chill pierces through
holes in the aged fabric

a mother’s excuses
no longer explain
how they came to be
in the first place

through the tight weave
that could never rip.

Daylight Truth by Neetu

July 26, 2023 by in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as , ,

Daylight Truth

soft murmurs in the dark
don’t enlighten me
they leave me fumbling
for something real to grasp

let whispers fade
with the light from stars

be silent until
day breaks and I can
see in your eyes
the words that spill
from your heart

Wanderer

January 26, 2023 by in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as , , , ,

Wanderer

by the river
he looks         lost

his face appears ancient
in rumination
under the sycamores’
embracing shade

thinks he might see
God

he meets no God
in this heaven
of sacred groves just the          rippling         river
rushing over stones
and pebbles
as if it has
somewhere to go
and cannot wait

he stands still
and          contemplates . . .

Touch

December 26, 2022 by in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as , , , ,

3 Haiku poems

Touch

your breath on my cheek,
as I hold you close to me,
silken infancy

it was the breeze, or
maybe the brush of your touch,
long lost, yet with me

father holds my hand
between life and death, an ache
forged in memory
