From Screen to Page and Screen

Presented by: Meredith Bonds

Date: May 2 – 13, 2022 (two week)

Pricing: A2P Member fee: $10

Non-A2P Member fee: $25

About the Workshop:

You’ve written your book, you’ve gotten it professionally edited, you’ve got a gorgeous cover, and now all you want to do is hold it in your hand and bask in your glory. But how to get it from your screen to that of thousands of readers out there? How do you get it into print? I use two programs, one for print and one for ebook—Microsoft Word and Jutoh. In this course, I will teach you to use these two programs to produce a beautifully formatted, professional-looking book to upload to Amazon, Apple iBooks, Ingram Spark, and any other e-retailer where you plan to sell your work. Take control of how your book looks and update it easily by learning to format.

About the Presenter:

Meredith Bond is an award-winning romance author. She has been both traditionally and self-published and has written over thirty books, including three works of non-fiction. After teaching writing and self-publishing since 2005 both in person and on-line, she now owns and runs her own formatting and coaching business, Anessa Books, where she not only makes the words of her clients look beautiful on page and screen, but guides authors through the sometimes complicated process of writing and self-publishing.

She blogs every Sunday morning on writing and publishing topics and hosts a podcast, The Writers’ Block Party with Pru Warren. Learn more at http://anessabooks.com or https://meredithbond.com

Her Story by Veronica Jorge

six women holding hands and walking toward the setting sun

Reflecting on last month’s celebration of Women’s History Month, and International Women’s Day, I looked through my bookshelves at some of the books written by women about women. I fingered the spines of a few and flipped through the pages of others. Each title evoked a memory, a lesson learned, an inspiration received; a few elicited a tear.

This month, I’d like to share with you a few of the books that have moved, inspired, and touched my life. They are the voices of fellow-women across the globe; sisters, friends, women.

Japan

The Strangeness of Beauty: A Novel – Lydia Yuri Minatoya. Norton, 2001. ISBN: 0-393-321140-1.

A woman returns to the home of her estranged mother in Japan on the verge of World War II.

To Live and To Write: Selections by Japanese Women Writers 1913-1938 – ed. Yukiko Tanaka. The Seal Press, 1987. ISBN: 0-931188-43-1.

Nine leading women writers of Japan spanning twenty-five years and their emerging voices on feminist consciousness.

Israel

See you next time on May 22nd!
