Tari Lynn Jewett: Featured Author

November 14, 2022 by in category Charmed Writer by Tari Lynn Jewett, Featured Author of the Month tagged as , , , , , ,

Tari Lynn Jewett lives in Southern California with her husband of nearly thirty years (also known as Hunky Hubby). They have three amazing sons, a board game designer, a sound engineer and a musician, all who live nearby. For over fifteen years she wrote freelance for magazines and newspapers, wrote television commercials, radio spots, numerous press releases, and many, MANY PTA newsletters. As much as she loved writing those things, she always wanted to write fiction . . . and now she is.

She also believes in happily ever after . . . because she’s living hers.

Tari’s newest title is Love and Mud Puddles, available now for pre-order. The book will be released on November 30, 2022.

Hannah loves her accounting job, the condo that she purchased herself, and her best friend Melinda. What she doesn’t love is baking. To be fair, she’s never tried. But when her cousin shames her into bringing homemade cookies to the family Christmas Eve celebration, she begins a quest to make the perfect holiday cookie.

Paramedic Josh also occasionally teaches kids’ cookie baking classes at his family’s bakery. When a beautiful accountant mistakenly signs up for a children’s holiday baking class, he realizes immediately that she’s in the right place.

Can this local hero help to save Hannah’s Christmas? Or will it all go up in smoke?

Release Date and 365 Days of Apartment Living and Time with Milo

August 10, 2022 by in category Charmed Writer by Tari Lynn Jewett tagged as ,

Woo hoo! I’m so excited. Love and Mud Puddles will release on November 30th! And yes, there will be Christmas cookies, and holiday celebrations. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes, playing games and giving prizes in my facebook reader group Tari Lynn and Friends, and in my newsletter. I hope you’ll join us for the festivities. In the meantime, here’s the book blurb and cover to whet your appetite.

And did I mention that I was moving…well we did, but not to Arizona, I mean all of our stuff is in Arizona, but I couldn’t leave the grandbaby yet. We decided to stay a year so that he doesn’t have to go to daycare, and will be able to go to preschool when he turns two, with my daughter-in-law who is a preschool teacher. So we rented an apartment for the next year…I haven’t lived in an apartment since my first apartment at 18 years old, which I lived in for 1 year, so…on to the next adventure. You can follow my posts 365 Days of Apartment Living and Time with Milo on Instagram if you’re interested!

Sorting it out…

June 10, 2022 by in category Charmed Writer by Tari Lynn Jewett tagged as , ,

All I want to do is write, but at the moment, it feels like real life is moving much faster than the plot of a good book. In between editing my holiday romcom, we’ve been moving, getting our primary residence ready to go up for sale (it went live yesterday), spending as much time as possible with our new grandson, doing physical therapy for both of my knees, and planning a celebration of life for my stepfather, who we lost in April. Hmmm, I’m going to have to switch that around. I think I’m editing in between all of my other responsibilities. I find myself creating piles of items to keep, donate, or discard all day. And not just with belongings, with aspects of my life.

What moves with me? What will I keep? Books, old writing, sewing, favorite cooking items, old photos, and special keepsakes. Ideas that are swirling in my head for the next story, the next article, the next adventure on the page. My new healthy lifestyle. And then of course there are family and friends I’ll miss, but keep close through social media, phone, and hopefully in person.

The donate pile- a few books that I think I can live without (this pile was much smaller than it probably should have been). Sewing items that I know I’ll never use (again this pile should be bigger) and lots of items from the kitchen and throughout the house that I never use, are outdated or don’t fit with our new home or life. And tons, AND TONS of clothes that no longer fit me. Seriously, tons of clothes, woo hoo!!

Trash is a kind of interesting thing. Some things are easy to throw away, broken storage containers, old bills, devices that no longer work, and the ratty old shoes that have slowly shuffled to the back of the closet…well, except that one comfy pair that should go in the trash but I just can’t get rid of…and there you go, some things are much harder to throw away. The book I’ve read so many times the cover is falling out and pages are loose. I could get a new copy, but this is the original copy of Christy, by Catherine Marshal that I read back in 6th grade, and 7th, and when I had nothing to read in my first apartment, and years later when I missed the story, and I’m probably due to read it again now. And anything that my children created. I know can’t keep all of it…I can’t, right? Can I? Maybe I can. And sometimes even ideas for stories that never happened. Time to give them up. I think.

What about you? Is life moving quickly? Do you feel the pressure to do things you have to do over things you want to do? And what stays in your keep pile? What are you willing to pass along? What finally makes it to the discard pile? I’m hoping to slow down and take a breath soon, but for now…back to work!

Babies, Books and Autumn?

October 10, 2021 by in category Charmed Writer by Tari Lynn Jewett tagged as ,

It’s October! Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love the crisp autumn air, and the anticipation of the holiday season. This year is especially special. Our new grandson arrived and will experience his first autumn, first Halloween, first Thanksgiving and for Christmas. I hope you’ll forgive my absence the last few months, we’ve been totally captivated by Milo.

Milo Porter was born on April 9, to my oldest son Gerrod and daughter in law Kristina. And he has absolutely stolen my heart. Did I mention that he was named for me? Porter is his middle name, and my maiden name. I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t get a full name from my son before he was born, then when they were leaving the hospital (because of the pandemic we couldn’t be there) he sent me a picture of the discharge papers, and there was his name.  Okay, I might have cried (sobbed). They named their baby for me.

He’s beautiful, charming and has both GrandPaul and I wrapped around his little finger.

We all read to him, but I think the first to read a book to Milo was his big brother Isaac. Yes, this is a family of book lovers.

I do have some writing news. #SilverBracelets Book 2 in my #HermosafortheHolidays series is finally out in paperback. We had some glitches along the way, but it’s available on Amazon, and I’m so excited to finally have print copies!

And if you haven’t read #HauntedHermosa yet, this is the time! It’s a sweet little Halloween romcom. It’s available in ebook on Amazon.

I’m off to convince my son that Grandma needs zoom time with Milo and Isaac.

Happy October everyone!
